BestCashCow and the corresponding blog are excellent sites for finding quick liquid and reliable investment opportunities. The table on the front page shows the highest savings account, CD and money market rates, saving the reader from dealing with intricacies of Bankrate. In their savings section they keep talking about EverBank FreeNet checking account, which pays 4.50% over the first three months, and later drops to a hardly competitive 2.76%, but then the money can be moved back into EmigrantDirect.
I was contemplating setting up an account and funding it with EmigrantDirect account money (their ABA routing number is 226070319, in case you could never find it), but it seems like EverBank is trying their best to prevent me from doing it. The Apply button on the checking account promo page did not work, and that’s usually pretty bad if you’re a bank and you only make money if customers apply for your accounts. The reply from the support people is not too helpful:

To their credit, they knew what Firefox was, and even had instructions for enabling JavaScript in Firefox. To their discredit, that Apply button still doesn’t work for me, perhaps will try it from a different machine tonight.
