Bill Howard: Companies should have users in mind

All companies would tell you they think about customers first, but how true is it in the reality? Bill Howard from PC Magazine is waiting for Microsoft’s Longhorn in 2006, but in the meantime he points out some areas, where usability improvements would be significant. Fillable PDF documents that one could save, PDFs in landscape layout for easier on-screen perusal, proper paging where page 5 in Adobe Acrobat really corresponds to page 5, not iii, in the document. Drag-and-drop for the browser forms, support for iPod line-in jacks in cars and eliminating DVD regional formats – all could add significantly to everyday experience of a geek.
