Comcast does VOIP

Nation’s largest Internet provider Comcast will start offering VOIP service to its customers, according to USA Today. Comcast will start with 20 markets and by 2006 expects 20% of its 6.5 million user base to use Internet telephony. According to the paper, there’s just one plan – $39.95 a month for unlimited domestic calls. The plan, USA Today notes, is not quite price-competitive with other offerings in the market. Primarily Vonage, the largest VOIP provider right now, is offering plans starting at $14.99.
