High score on Wii Tennis

This morning I reached 2018 on Nintendo Wii Tennis. The game is addictive at this level, and I have diligently been playing it, instead of switching to Super Paper Mario gifted to me recently. I wondered whether one could go above 2000, since the graph didn’t seem to support it, but apparently you can.

Starting in 1950s the game requires enormous amount of Zen-like concentration and you’re constantly playing a pair of partners with 1900 and 2000 personal score. They do not change, they just sometimes vary their tricks. The biggest effort is to get them to play your game, and not vice versa. My game was heavily dependent on the front guy doling out shots left and right, till the back person of the opposing team got tired or was out of range to reach for the ball.

There’re some pretty tough requirements to get to the 2000 level. If you have 1980, and you win the best of 5 with 3-2 in your favor, you lose points. If you win 3-1, you gain 0 points. You have to win all 3 games in the best of 5 right away, win them flawlessly, and preferably without any deuces involved. Talk about pressure.

The opponents, however, are prone to mistakes even at this skill level. If the ball has a chance of either going out or landing on the green, the opponent will always hit it, if they’re in the range. Also, when the front guy hits the ball high in the air, but he has to jump for it to reach it, the ball frequently goes out. Other than that not too many mistakes are allowed.

You doing wonderful ; the game seems to max out at 2400.

i’m at 2397 right handed 2378 left handed (only obsessive playing now) ; it takes winniing 6 games at love in a row to advance one point here . i only play one game at a time; and at this level i quit any games which i allow the opponents to score a point — would take you down hundreds of points ; I also play front and back man simutaneously with one wii remote; i am experimenting playing with two remotes; one left and one right — cheers !!!! — wondering when a sequel with more advanced opponents. I play primarily a serve and volley game as you do –

  • Alex

Oh, man, you’ve given me something to look forward to.

  • PC

did some research ; some guy got a 2400; he says going from 2399 to 2400 was about 64 games at love!!!!! — its a sickness!!!!

    i am in 3120…..

  • Kyle

I hve been fluctuating between 1900-2100 lately. I usually play through all of the games and play best of 5. It really sucks when your score goes down and you win!!! I was wondering how the scoring was calculated if anyone knew.

  • Mip Map

I am at 4864. It takes me 640 games to get 1 point. But I cannot stop playing.

  • Anonymous

Ya’ll are amazing. I’ve had my wii for 3 days and i’m only at 929.

  • Victor

I am at 2384, I just cannot believe that someone is at 4864, u must be in front of Wii all the time. Who are your opponents now at 4864? the same 1900 and 2000 pair? I think its a poorly designed game once we cross 2350. Ideally, there should have been more skillful opponents so that there will be few points each game we win rather than play 640 games with the same dumb opponents to get 1 point.

  • Brian

I just got 2340 today, it gets hard, but its definitely addictive.

  • milkygal

Tennis: I’m at 2399, still working on that one impossible point. Notice the pic of that 2400 pts wasn’t really in the tennis court? and I’ve done some searches too, so far those who claimed they got 2400 pts, no pic to prove that. cross my fingers, hope i’ll get that one point tomorrow.

  • Sneerpout

I’ve just reached 2109, and am still hooked even though I am a little disappointed that I didn’t get a shiny new racquet and a new set of opponents when I broke the 200 barrier :o )

  • Brian

I have been playing Wii Tennis for 2 weeks now. Its very addictive. I just reached 2149 and came here to see what the high score was. I guess I have a goal to achieve now. As for the person who says they reached 4864. Id love to see a picture of that. Til then I dont believe it.

  • Ace

I am currently at 2389, doing the singles games, key is to do the fast serve they can’t return to get addon points. While it’s addictive, it isn’t that hard to get to this level. The game could use some improvement in racket control and other features. Also helps to have at least 5 brewskies before you play.

    The Ace of Ace!

I just hit a little over 2000 in tennis, but i am wondering. What is the highest lvl the game will allow u to get? Does it keep going up, or is there a limit? I’ve been looking all over the internet, and the highest score i’ve seen is “Mip Map”s 4864. How high can it go? I really need help with this one. Can someone tell me already?

  • Tony Ionno

I’ve had my character at 2400 for quite a while. I think this is the limit. I’ve gotten somewhere around 150 love victories since I hit it and it doesn’t seem to want to increase anymore. It probably took me 100 victories to get from 2399 to 2400. It took me about 8 straight hours of play to go from 0 to 2400. If it ever does go to 240 I will definitely take a pic and post it, but I don’t think it’s possible

A few tips for those of you trying to reach 2400. It’s fairly easy if you are decent at the game. I may be the first seeing as how I got there late the same night the Wii was publicly released in the USA.

    1. On the way up, try not to lose any games at all. There seems to be a mathematical equation in the coding that makes the number of victories necessary to reach 2400 increase dramatically the more you lose on the way up.

    2. Once you get beyond 2000 points play single games only and if the computer scores even one single point, start over. I know this kind of defeats the spirit of any sporting event, but it is 100% necessary beyond 2200. If your score is 2320 and you win but allow the cpu to score even 15 points, you will lose at least 10 points.

    3. Try to learn to control the game with your net player. Consider the rear player a safety and try to hit every ball with your net guy. This will allow you to control the game and keep the computer scrambling.

    4. I am able to get the power serve about 90% of the time now. To do this, it requires good timing. You need to hit the ball at the peak of your toss. Very importantly, you also need to come straight down fast and hard with your controller. Pretend you are cracking a whip. This is the exact motion combined with the timing that will allow you to get the power serve most of the time. This takes some practice, but like anything, once you figure it out it becomes second nature. Just remember the wrist motion for a better chance at the power serve.

    5. Keep the opponents rear player sprinting. This is done by learning to return the cpu opponents hits towards the opposite rear corner from where they are. This is accomplished by twisting the wrist and hitting the ball in a downward motion (as though you are trying to hit it straight down to the ground). This often requires some finesse to learn but it is vital in effectively winning games at the higher levels.

Have been addicted to this game since we got it at Christmas. Finally got 2025 today and decided to see what the highest score out there was. I was disappointed when I didn’t get like a second pro star when I passed the 2K level. Also, why doesn’t the game change the players at the 1900 level and above. I’m tired of seeing those same two chicks. Is there any game out there like the Wii Sports tennis? I love the way it responds in volleying. I tried a ping pong game and it was awful compared to this game.

  • LA

I’ve been playing wii tennis since sept. 2008. I’m at 2399, ten love games in but no point. The game handicaps you as you score higher. The bots sometimes play more aggressively now.

    Lessons learned:
Power serve requires wrist to snap down. Karate type chop with remote on its side yields best results.
Wrist is more important than arm movement
Use finesse instead of power at the net.
Try creating a lefty (or alternate hand) player so you can play double handed.
Pressing the A button after a point skips the replay.
I have to limit my time or I’d play for hours and hours — don’t want to have to join a wii anonymous group
I’m a 60 year old woman and bought this game for my hubby. He’s over 1900, but only plays a couple of games a day.
Also play the golf and bowling, don’t like the baseball or boxing.
I always beat my husband at boxing. He hits like a real boxer; I box like a kitty — just keep my “paws” in front of my face and flail. It’s a hoot.

I reached 2017 and it took just one hard fought loss to drop me back down to 1950′s. It takes a long time to get back with few points for every win and sometimes -ve points for hard fought wins with many deuces. I wish they had designed the point calculation a little differently.

  • http://thecaringosteopath.com glenn

    i’v e got up to 2160.
play single games, start over if the cpu gets more than 1 point
fast seve seems to work best, but how do you get spin on the ball..

  • http://www.chrismcmillan.com Chris McMillan

My sons got to 2399 The last point is tough…. 2398 to 2399 takes about 15 wins in a row to get it.. I wonder if you can get to 2400????

  • Garry Beattie

I have been on 2399 for 2 weeks and trying hard to get that elusive 1 point to make 2400. Tough going but I will carry on.

  • Gaurav

I have been playing Wii tennis for sometime. Initially I was wondering if gettin to 2000 is the end of another game for me…. Today I took over from 2008 points and played best of 5 and won all the 3 games in a row and got upto 2050… Now I am swinging between 2000 and 2050…

What do u guys suggest shud I play single games or best of 3 or 5 to get to 2400 asap?????

  • Shay Murray

OMG – It seems that anyone over 2000 starts to get interested in what the highest score is and googles it… Me too… I think I am at about 2320 and have developed all the techniques mentioned above… Single games, quitting if you loose a point, power serves, playing 90% of shots with the net guy and trying to shoot across court as much as possible… I am scared tho by what I read…. I takes a really good love game at the moment to get about 6 points and it might take me 10 attempts to get a convincing enough performance to get those few miserable points… If I go on, and I really really want to, I will have to play several love games in a row to gain a single point!!!! I think I should take a lump hammer to my Wii and take my life back again instead…. why cant I?

  • Bozo the clown

This game sucks once you get to 2399. There must be a cheat site for tennis. It can be frustrating not to gain more point and staring at the same to opponents. If anyone knows how to change to new opponents please post here….

  • ThHo

Does your score influence your players ability (speed, positioning etc.)

  • Shay Murray

Yeah… Up to a point… once you get up in the rankings the best that the wii have to offer are the same two players every time (rank 1900 & 2000) but even with this they seem to have some games where they are average and some where they are fantastic… It’s frustrating though as you need to win all points in every game to get the points… If you loose a single point but win the game you will loose points so you have to quit every game where they score anything… I eventually reached 2399 but I have also since found evidence that 2400 is possible (http://2400tennis.250free.com/) looks genuine and this guy did his maths before hand. I have decided to keep playingbut with no firm dedication and when I get there I get there even if it’s a year away… I do kinda hate it now.

  • lbuckley

I haven’t seen a pic of anything above 2399. I’m at 2397, and I’ve won over a dozen perfect (no lost points) single games without getting to 2398.

Until I see a pic that doesn’t look like it’s been PhotoShopped, I’m going to assume 2399 is all there is. And if that’s the case, I don’t think I’m willing to wait until I’ve won (someone said) 64 perfect single games to get it. :)

  • James

Finally hit 2399 a few minutes ago. Wow! What a struggle to get the last 10 points. As far as 2400 or more? Doubtful. As someone pointed out, the picture of the guy with 2400 is not on a tennis court. Looks more like a golf background. Even if it IS possible, do we all have such miserably boring lives that our time is spent trying to achieve a meaningless goal. Please!

Sure would love to play Wii Tennis online against others though. THAT would be a fun challenge!

  • James

Retraction: With the picture of the guy at 2400. I watched the fields change after my last win and the last one is not a tennis court, but is the same background as the one in his picture. Maybe he did it after all! Still, what an obsession!

  • Dr. G. Anil Kumar Reddy

    Hi everyone,

I have achieved the score of 2399 and stuck at this score for last couple of months. Even after scoring 40 straight impressive wins, I could not get the elusive point to reach the milestone. I’m sure, even Roger Federer would be hard fetched to reach that elusive point:). I find this to be depressingly hard and the game loses it’s sheen after reaching the score of 2399. Any milestone should be realistic but at the moment it does not look like. Anyways, wishing all the “wii” tennis enthusiasts good luck to reach that landmark score.

    Bye …take care.

Although we have been friends for a long time, I didn’t want to embarrase myself with my lack of tennis technique. So I decided to get myself a bit of help before our first session. I “kinda” dissapear of the radar for a couple of weeks. The reason, I was training with an amazing series of oline videos on how to learn to play tennis.

To my amazement and his, my first class with him wasn’t bad at all. He immediately noticed that I had had “some help” so he asked what I did. I mentioned the videos, he took a peek and was quite impressed.

I am far from perfection, but I have been doing quite well.
